Event description

Description

Join WTCI and the Chattanooga Autism Center for this powerful film from POV.

Parents of a boy on the autism spectrum form a competitive swim team, recruiting other teens on the spectrum and training them with high expectations and zero pity. Swim Team chronicles the extraordinary rise of three diverse young athletes, capturing a moving quest for inclusion, independence and a life that feels like winning. A co-presentation with the Center for Asian American Media (CAAM).

Enjoy a preview of the film here: http://www.pbs.org/pov/swimteam/video/swim-team-trailer/

The Palace Picture House will open concessions at 6 PM for each screening with beer, wine and snacks available for purchase during a mixer before the 7 PM feature presentation in the unique, restored space. The screen is nine feet tall and 16 feet wide in this beautifully-restored film house, an ideal setting for WTCI’s members and guests to enjoy their favorite programs from PBS and beyond, celebrating public media and its vital role in providing quality, trusted programming that educates, engages and inspires a lifetime of learning and exploration.

If you are interested in membership and member benefits, including online streaming with Passport and priority reservations for these screenings, contact Director of Donor Services, Lisa McDowd, at 423-702-7819 or lmcdowd@wtciTV.org.
