On Friday December 4th, HAP, LLC presents Jane Austen: Who Dares to Be an Authoress? featuring Historical Interpreter Laura Rocklyn in a one-woman performance. The year is 1815 and Jane Austen has returned from a visit to the Prince Regent’s London residence. The honor of this invitation prompts Jane to reminisce about events that led this daughter of a country clergyman to a position of prominence. Jane shares her thoughts and feelings about her novels and how her life was forever changed with their publication.
Laura Rocklyn is an actress, writer, and first-person historical interpreter based in Boston, MA. She received her MFA from The Shakespeare Theatre Company’s Academy for Classical Acting at The George Washington University and holds a Shakespeare Certificate from The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. She has performed with regional theater companies, up and down the East Coast, including: The Folger Theatre, Kentucky Shakespeare, and The Chesapeake Shakespeare Company, and she has worked as a first-person historical interpreter at museums, such as Colonial Williamsburg and The Smithsonian.
