[PAX U 2025] Suspense Studio: Jubensha Murder Deduction Game
Overview
WHAT IS JUBENSHA?
Jubensha (剧本杀) is a form of murder mystery social deduction game. Each player receives a pre-written script, roleplays as a suspect in a crime scene, collects evidence, and attempts to deduce the murderer. One of you will secretly play the murderer!
FEATURED GAMES
1. Game Over
A group of game enthusiasts are invited to playtest a brand new game. During the game, all the players lose their memory. A player is found dead and no one can remember what happened. All the game instructions say is, “You have one goal in this game: escape. If you do not escape, it’s GAME OVER.”
Number of players: 5-6 players
Content warnings: bullying, death and suicide/murder.
2. The Sandcastle
A group of die-hard gamers from the online gaming community, ‘The Sandcastle’, gathers at an exclusive island resort for the ultimate meet-up. But their dream getaway turns into a nightmare when one of them is murdered. Now, trapped on the island, they must navigate a deadly game of trust and deception. Will The Sandcastle withstand the tide of lies, or crumble under betrayal and deceit?

Content warnings: substance abuse, eating disorder, death and murder

TICKETING INFORMATION
- Group Ticket Only: $180 per table – Reserve an exclusive table for you and your friends (5–6 players)
- Single Tickets: Any unbooked group tickets will be opened as single tickets starting November 10
- Standby Queue: Don't have a ticket, but still looking to play? Head to Room 118A to join the Jubensha standby queue, where you may be able to fill a vacant seat in an upcoming session.
- Dedicated DMs: Each table will have a dedicated DM facilitating the game and guiding players.
- Minimum Player Requirement: 5 players for Game Over and 6 players for The Sandcastle. If your table is short on numbers, players from the Jubensha standby queue will be asked to join.
- Withdrawals: Please notify us in advance if you wish to cancel so we can release your slot to other teams. Tickets are transferable but nonrefundable.
- Games are tabletop and are fully accessible.
SCHEDULE AND REGISTRATION
- Registration Opens: October 31, 12:00 PM EST
- Sessions: Start times run throughout each day of the convention (10am, 1.15pm, 4.30pm, 7.45pm)
- Duration: Each game will last approximately 2 to 3 hours, depending on the players' game progress.
- Arrival: Please arrive 10 minutes before your time slot for registration. Latecomers may not be admitted.
- Jubensha is located in Room 118A, Pennsylvania Convention Center. Suspense Studio can be found at Booth 4150 in the Exhibition Hall, where other boxed game sets are available for retail.
