Description

Mt. Baker fall time

For PAWA members only

Come ready to paint!

The Mt. Baker/Shuksan Area

We will be joining the Alpine Club of Canada members again, an annual retreat! The Mountaineers Baker Lodge is just a stroll away from Picture Lake and a spectacular view of Mt. Shuksan and 3 miles from Artist Point with amazing views overlooking the Cascade Mountains and Mount Baker. Trails run through Heather Meadows from the Lodge, and has beautiful, vivid color this time of year!

RESERVATIONS must be made on or before AUGUST 21. Price includes 2 nights lodging and 3 meals. The Mountaineers Baker Lodge is a rustic building built in 1950 by Mountaineers volunteers. It has bunk beds in a dorm-like setting. There are 3 partitions for men, women, and families. Volunteers of the Mountaineers are hosts during this weekend and provide us with breakfast Saturday and Sunday and dinner Saturday night.

To attend for FREE - This event is at the top of the mountain, near the ski area. While we HIGHLY recommend that you stay in the Mountaineers Baker Lodge so that you may take full advantage of the location, painting the golden hours, safety (not driving the long mountain road in the dark or while tired), and the commraderie - you may come up for the day and enjoy this as a FREE paint-out. There is cell phone coverage only at the top of the mountain. Call when you reach the ski area to find out where most of us have gone for the day, as we decide on the fly. The nearest town is Glacier (30 minutes away) and then Bellingham is the closest large city (1 1/2 hours away) You may also find lodging there.

IF you are not staying in the lodge, please sign up for the free ticket listed below so that we may keep track of everyone. Food through the Mountaineers is only for those paying for the lodge. Others will be responsible for their own meals.

Facilitators: Charlie Sharpe email: chas.sharpe3@gmail.com, phone: 360-990-6356 Susan McManamen email: dsmcm678@yahoo.com phone: 425-280-0402

Check in (3pm, no sooner) with Charlie and Susan when you arrive to gather information for PAWA. Susan will bring warm soup and/or chili.
