Event description

While many young people have access to resources which ease the transition to an independent adult life, some youth face particularly challenging circumstances during this turbulent time. Many lack the resources afforded to privileged youth, such as stable housing, guidance, and monetary support. There are 5.8 million American youth aged 16-24 who are neither enrolled in school nor working. That is 1 in 7 young people who are disconnected from our economy.

San Francisco is home to a high percentage of well-educated residents, ranking second in terms of adults with at least a bachelor’s degree. However, San Francisco also ranks seventh in the country for disconnected youth, with 12.4% not enrolled in school or working. Neglecting to invest in the future of these youth means missed opportunities - losing future doctors, teachers, business leaders, and scientists.

Join HandsOn Bay Area as we kick off 2019 with our San Francisco TeamWorks series. During these volunteer events, we will learn about the challenges vulnerable youth encounter, as we provide support and resources to local non-profit organizations that function to bridge the resources for at-risk youth. Please join us as we come together to support the youth of our community.

Please register by January 8th to enroll in the series!

*All volunteers must be 18+*
