Paul's Letter to the Philippians with the Rev. Dr. Allen Hilton

About this event

Zoom | July 14th - August 4th | 8 pm EDT | 4 Sessions

The addressees are being persecuted by their neighbors in ways that threaten their tight-knit fellowship. The author is incarcerated in a dark Roman prison, surrounded by suffering and death. And yet the Letter to the Philippians is laced through with joy, and one of its most famous verses exhorts the reader to “rejoice in the Lord always!” Its pages offer both profound early Christian theology and timeless practical encouragement. This friendly letter from the apostle Paul to a Christian community he clearly holds dear is worth reading for a whole lot of reasons, friends! So join Dr. Allen Hilton this summer for four Wednesday evening sessions on Paul’s Epistle to the Philippians.

The four sessions will occur on July 14, July 21, July 28, and August 4. After attending all four sessions, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion.

The Rev. Dr. Allen Hilton is the Executive Director of House United, a non-profit organization he founded in 2016. His book, "A House United: How the Church Can Save the World", moves from the facts and causes of American political polarization to the possibility that faith communities can help solve it.

The Rev. Dr. Hilton is a former Yale Divinity School faculty member, where he taught the New Testament in the late 1990s and early 2000s. He later took the call to become a pastor for The Congregational Church of New Canaan, CT, Plymouth Church in Seattle, WA, and Wayzata Community Church in MN. For more information go to our website.
