Description

Pauli's Durham Tour is a 75-min walk into Durham's history of racial segregation in the West End Neighborhood. Aya Shabu and friends share stories about the significance of Black Civil War soldiers, the Freedman Schools movement, unsung shero Pauli Murray - her multi-racial ancestry and heritage, and Pauli's long history of relentless activism.

This tour is a collaboration between Whistle Stop Tours and Pauli Murray Center for History and Social Justice.

Is this a free event?

No. Tickets cost between $12 - $20 depending on availability. Children are free.

Why does Whistle Stop Tours charge for their tours?

Revenue from ticket sales support non-profit partners like The Pauli Murray Center for History and Social Justice as well as support local performing artists commited to arts integration, preservation and learning.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

The West End Neighborhood is easily accessible by walking, biking, busing or driving west from downtown. There is on-street parking on Carroll St. Or park in open lot near Durham Food Co-op and walk down Carroll St.


What time should I arrive?

Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the start time. The Pauli Murray house will be open for self-guided tours. We will disembark at 10 am sharp.

What can I bring into the event?

Water, walking shoes, umbrella, camera, or cell phone. Pictures only, no video.

What's the refund policy?

We do not refund tickets. If buyer is unable to attend the tour he/she registered for, tickets may be used towards a future tour. Buyer must contact the organizer by email 24 hrs prior to the start of the tour to make arrangements.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Please bring your printed ticket it makes registration and check-in simpler.
