Join us for an exhibition of paintings by modern artist Paul Chidlaw (1900-1989). Cincinnati’s first abstract expressionist, Chidlaw was a colorist known for his vibrant and highly textured oil paintings that incorporated mixed media. He drew inspiration from music and the seasonal landscapes that he encountered on his world travels. He studied at the Art Academy of Cincinnati and L'Ecole des Beaux-Arts in France. From 1928-32 he studied in Paris with Jean Despujols and Andre'Lhote. He taught at the Art Academy of Cincinnati for 17 years, where he instructed students such as Tom Wesselmann and Jim Dine. His work has been displayed at the Cincinnati Art Museum, Miami University Art Museum, and Xavier University.

The exhibition runs July 28 – September 2, 2017. An opening reception will be held on Fri, July 28 from 5-8 pm. Light refreshments will be served.
