Jesse Cohen

Jesse Cohen

Jesse Cohen is a Brooklyn based singer-songwriter, sound designer, actor, teacher.

Jesse Cohen invites the world to join his quest through the looking glass of music as he puts pen to paper and fingers to guitar in a way that invokes the gospel of inner spirit, through organic expression.

This Oklahoma native finds his home in the tenement halls, villages, rivers, alleyways, lakesides, city streets and campfires of the globe.

Cohen was born in a bungalow located on old highway 66 in his hometown of Bethany. Cohen started singing and playing guitar at the age of 11. At 13 he began writing and arranging original works. After high school, Cohen studied sound engineering and began producing many of Oklahoma City's most innovative bands during the late 1990s.

After a decade behind the console, the inner whisper of wanderlust and his desire to share his gift with a broader world led Cohen to New York City continuing his journey to understand self, the world around, to reflect, to heal and to slay the darkness.

Marching to his own beat does not put Cohen on an island of artistic solitude. His quest to share his inner musings invites hues of past masters to glow through his modern canvas as the threads of honesty and depth from Woody Guthrie, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Nick Drake, Sinead O’Connor and Leonard Cohen are woven in the fabric of Cohen’s being.

The result is a modern day troubadour seeking to romance the ears of the masses, touring the world, from subway stations and alleyway bars to symphony halls and auditoriums.

Cohen just released “City of New York” through his own Buskertone Music.

Cohen has had the pleasure to work with six-time Emmy-Award-winning producer Peter Fish (Carly Simon, Sophie B. Hawkins, and Tony Bennett).

Cohen was invited to St. Petersburg, Russia to perform with Lyrdia Kavina for the 100-year anniversary of the Theremin.

Among other accomplishments include a multi-award winning documentary short titled, “Jesse and the Fountain of Youth,” which follows Cohen for a brief period during his New York City escapades working in the subway as a busker.

Cohen is in the process of writing for his next venture while playing the globe in support of his ever-growing catalogue.
