Event Details

A one-day workshop with Sophie Sabbage, bestselling author of The Cancer Whisperer

with special guest speaker, Dr. Kim Jobst, specialist in Integrated Health Care

27 JANUARY 2018

9.30am-6.30pm

 at

The Warehouse, London

“Exceptional patients refuse to be victims. They educate themselves and become specialists in their own care. They question the doctor because they want to understand their treatment and participate in it. They demand dignity, personhood and control, no matter what the course of the disease.” Bernie S. Siegel, M.D.

Sophie has been supporting cancer patients in various ways since her diagnosis in 2014 and the publication of her book in March 2016: blogging, writing articles, leading a Facebook group and giving talks around the country. The biggest challenge fellow patients bring to her is how to take charge of their own treatment in the face of their fears and within a system that can make doing so very challenging. In particular:

How do I stand up to my doctor when I disagree with him or her?

Why can’t I get support for the other treatments I want to do?

How can I be an equal in the relationship when they have far more expertise than me?

How can I overcome my fears and lack of self-confidence at medical meetings?

How can I better listen to my body and my intuition?

How can I know the right choices when so many things are available in the complementary world as well as the medical world?

How can I win the respect of my doctors and nurses?

How can I be empowered, even transformed, by having cancer instead of terrified of it?

In response, Sophie is offering this low-cost workshop to cancer patients and anyone who directly cares for them. She has also invited Dr. Kim Jobst to speak at this event and share his unique wisdom. It is a rare practitioner who works with the mind, body and spirit at the same time and who is qualified in all these areas. Sophie's and Kim's principles are deliciously aligned, yet they work in very different ways. Kim is not an oncologist, but his insight into the meaning of disease is worth its weight in gold. Sophie and her team hope to see you there.
