Description

The Subcute and Long Term Care Council Meeting:
Patient Driven Payment Model Under Medicare Part A:
A Roadmap for Survival and Success for Therapy Managers and Staff

Presented by Todd Ostrow, MA, OTR/L, COO of Port Morris Health System

PDPM is being initiated in October 2019 and represents a MAJOR change in reimbursement for therapy services under Part A Medicare in long term care and subacute facilities. This presentation will explain the changes and present a roadmap to ensure success as we navigate change.

With an emphasis of “value” as it relates to clinical outcomes, hospitalization rates and lengths of stay, it is predicted that this payment system will drastically reduce therapy utilization unless we adapt our services to align with reimbursement incentives. This presentation will outline the changes and provide suggestions for adapting therapy programs to ensure our value and viability within the LTC/Subacute arena.

-Identify how therapy will be delivered under PDPM
-Understand the roles of therapy professionals and how we can take advantage of opportunities to contribute positive outcomes for patients and our facility
