Event description

Description

In partnership with the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and our local hosts, VOCAL invites you to join us!

The Pathways to Recovery Facilitator Training will be offered on June 17-18, 9am-5pm, in the Annandale area. This 2-day training will be facilitated by Bonnie Neighbour, who has worked to develop this facilitator training for Virginia’s Peers, and Ann Benner.

The Pathways to Recovery Framework was originally developed by a group of Peers (Julie Bayes, Lori Davidson, Diane McDiarmid, Sarah Ratzlaff, and Priscilla Ridgway) who collectively authored the Pathways to Recovery: Strengths Recovery Self-Help Workbook.

This workshop will prepare experienced facilitators or group leaders in facilitating workshops with a strengths-based approach to recovery and resilience as found in the Pathways to Recovery: Strengths Recovery Self-Help Workbook. Several different learning styles will be discussed. Graduates will create and share group facilitation learning modules for exploring goal setting across different life domains (for example: living situation, vocation, and spirituality). This process will prepare them to facilitate groups of peers in creating their own recovery life plans. If you have any questions about your qualifications to take this training, please contact Megan Sharkey at megan@vocalvirginia.org.

This training has a capacity of 16 participants and is free of charge. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be available.

For full participation, registrants will need to bring their own 3-ring binder (minimum of 2 inch). The Pathways to Recovery: Strengths Recovery Self-Help Workbook will be provided to participants.

There will be a 1 hour lunch break around 12pm. Participants are welcome to bring their own lunches (refrigerator available), purchase a meal from the cafe on site, or leave the building to pick up lunch elsewhere.

Free access had been made possible by DBHDS
