Event description

Description

We hear about new environmentally responsible practices and clean tech all the time, so why aren’t we seeing sweeping results?

The problem isn’t lack of technologies or policy solutions; it's apathy at both personal and corporate levels. To achieve real progress, we need to design for factors like URGENCY, MEASURABLE IMPACT, SELF-INTEREST, and INTUITIVENESS of action. In other words, for people knowing:

  • Delaying is as catastrophic as doing nothing

  • I can have real impact (not a drop in a bucket)

  • Acting now benefits me personally

  • I have a list of things I can easily do today

We’ll discuss how we can create real behavior change among consumers at scale to support environmentally responsible practices, policies, and products.

Agenda:

8:30am: Welcome, opening remarks, brief talks

9:30am: World Cafe: collaborative, moderated innovative session to understand and design new consumer behaviors

1:00pm: Lunch Break

1:50pm: Practitioner panel

3:00pm: Close

Hosted by the Tishman Environment and Design Center at The New School

Organizers:

Paths to Action (Climate Week NYC) is brought to you by Judith Albert (Environmental Entrepreneurs), Adam Berk (Spinnaker), Pamela Berns, Gokce Gizer (Onkaro), Boris Grinkot (PROGRESSDNA), and Adam Hayes (Openshop).
