PATH Action to be a Sanctuary County
Howard County is proud of the diversity of our community. Now, we have an opportunity to protect it. Psalm 12:5 says "Because the poor are plundered and the needy grown, I will now arise". Today, we are called to arise for our immigrant and undocumented neighbors.
The Howard County Council has proposed a bill that would make Howard a Sanctuary County. This bill would keep local police and government officials from acting as immigration agents, which is NOT their responsibility. The Baltimore Sun endorsed the legislation.
There are three actions you can take to help protect our immigrant neighbors.
1. Write an email to the County Council at email@example.com telling them that you support CB 9, and ask three of your friends to do the same thing!
2. Show up for the County Council debate of the bill. Public testimony will be Jan., 17 at 6:00pm at the George Howard Building, 3430 Court House Drive, Ellicott City, and there will be many people there who would rather see our neighbors forced from Howard County.
3. Join us on Sunday, Jan., 29 at 4:30pm for a PATH action at Wilde Lake Interfaith Center, 10431 Twin Rivers Rd, Columbia, MD. Please register to let us know we can count on you.
We have invited the County Council and County Executive, and will hear from the people directly affected by this legislation.
