Paterson Project: A visual and poetic modern classical music experience
Event Information
Description
Modern classical music composer Frederick Adler and visual artist Jonathan Sinagub merge to present a musical and visual experience rising from their fascination with William Carlos Williams’ epic poem, Paterson, and with the city of Paterson. The music will be performed, with a backdrop of Jonathan’s visual imagery, by soprano Alexandra Sessler, clarinetist Sarah Bonomo, cellist Samsun van Loon, and pianist Fred Adler.
Tonight’s program is dominated by new works inspired by Williams’ poetry in Paterson books II and IV: Williams Songs, The Run to the Sea, and Thalassa. It is rounded out by two works not directly related to the project, Three Piano Pieces from 2007 and the trio for clarinet, cello and piano, Mexico: Images, written last year, with tonight’s players in mind.
