What is "Defies Measurement" about? Here's a brief synopsis:
The American public school system hangs in the balance. High-stakes testing and corporate reformers have tipped the scales toward a culture of learning that favors standardization over innovation. It begs the question: What if the most important lessons learned in school are the ones that can’t be measured? Defies Measurement strengthens the discussion about public education by taking a much-needed, fresh, hard look at why it is so important to address the social and emotional needs of every student, and what happens when the wrong people make decisions for schools. Through the intimate lens of students and teachers at Chipman Middle School in Alameda, California, the documentary film reveals an emotional story that has become all too common in this country. The film is punctuated by interviews with some of today’s biggest names in education, which reveal compelling evidence to inspire audiences to rethink a better way to educate our children.
