Interested in transitioning into a career in patent law?

Please join us for the first session in the Intellectual Property Career Training Program, a multi-part series designed to teach interested graduate students and postdoctoral fellows about intellectual property law and how to transition into patent-related careers in this field. With guest instructors from within the Hopkins community, the nationally prominent law firm Nixon and Vanderhye PC, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office, this series will take you from learning about the purpose of patenting an invention all the way through the processes of patent drafting, prosecution, examining, and litigation. Program participants will have the opportunity to apply for a spot to visit the offices of Nixon and Vanderhye PC in mid-November and interact with multiple patent professionals as part of a training cohort.

Training Cohort:

By application only, Interested trainees who wish to transition into a career in patent law may apply to be admitted to a 10-member training cohort. This cohort will visit the office of Nixon and Vanderhye on November 16, 2017 and participate in skills-building training with several IP professionals between the dates of December 2017 and March 2018. To apply, you must have attended at least 2 of 3 sessions of the IP Career Training Series and be able to commit to the November 16th on-site visit at Nixon and Vanderhye PC.

This series was created in collaboration between the JHU SOM Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and the JHMI Professional Development and Career Office.
