Event description

Description

This series of workshops is for those who are interested in patchwork and quilting but don’t know where to start! Not only will you learn the basic techniques to start you on your quilting journey but we’ll also talk you through fabric selection, wadding/ batting options, equipment requirements and demystify some of the terminology surrounding the quilting world. The course fee includes provision of a selection of fabric ‘fat quarters’ to practise with although you are more than welcome to delve into your own fabric stash. Once you’ve completed the course, you’ll be equipped to design and create your first quilt and of course, you’re more than welcome to visit one of our popular craft social sessions to complete it knowing that help is on hand if you need it!

Workshop 1 – cutting and piecing

This first workshop will start you off you on your quilting journey. Discover the methods for accurate cutting using patchwork rulers and rotary cutters. Learn how to ‘nest’ seams accurately to create perfectly matched corners, and master cutting squares and triangles to begin to put your own designs together.

Course dates:

Thursdays 18th, 25th January and 1st February

**book the course of 3 for a 20% discount**
