The PATCH Artist Mixer celebrates our current PATCH community and features an info session for the 2020 Call for Artists.

Connect with the PATCH community and learn more about our Call for Artists. All are welcome. Light refreshments provided.

PATCH 2020 Call for Artists: We are pleased to invite photographers, illustrators, painters and other visual artists to apply for The PATCH Project. Through PATCH, we partner with landowners and property developers to exhibit the work of local artists. Click here to learn more. Deadline: Friday, December 6, 2019.

6 - 7pm: PATCH Info. Session. Learn more about the PATCH Project, what formats exhibits can take, and ask questions about the Call for Artists application process.

7 - 8pm: Artist Spot Talks. Hear from current PATCH Artists: Rosena Fung, Shawn Skeir, and Wenting Li about their recent projects and experiences. Meet Jihee Min, Interdisciplinary Artist and Mentee as part of the Breaking Ground: Public Art Mentorship Program.

8 - 9pm: PATCH Networking. Connect with the PATCH Artist Community and meet the PATCH Team.

About The PATCH Project:

The PATCH (Public Art Through Construction Hoarding) Project is a social enterprise operated by The STEPS Initiative, an award-winning charitable organization. Our team of dedicated urban planners, architects and professional artists bring a unique blend of skills and experience. Combined, we have over 15 years of experience working closely with artists and designers, managing public art projects, and supporting urban development initiatives in the City of Toronto. With a reputation leading some of Canada’s largest and most innovative public art projects that have engaged thousands of community members, along with a roster of over 130 local artists, PATCH brings a set of world-class expertise with a local focus.

About Northern Contemporary:

Located in the historic Parkdale Theater building at 1605 Queen Street West in the neighbourhood of Parkdale, Northern Contemporary aims to showcase work from a wide range of artists focusing on illustrative, representational, urban, lowbrow, comic, pop art, and experimental work. The space is also home to a shared artist collective, housing over 25 different artists, artisans and makers featuring an incredible range of creative endeavours. Through a variety of events aimed to promote Toronto's already-thriving art community, Northern Contemporary provides greater exposure for artists to new markets.

Accessibility Notice: Northern Contemporary is an accessible facility. There is a ramp at the entrance and no stairs throughout. There will be seating provided for the Info. Session and Artist Spot Talks. Please contact renee@stepsinitiative.com with any questions about access and accommodations.
