Pastoralist Child Foundation (PCF) is hosting a fundraising party on Friday, October 25, 2019 at the Glen Ridge Country Club in Glen Ridge, NJ starting at 6:30PM. Our “Kenya Dig It!” event guests will enjoy an evening of delicious food (see menu below), beverages (cash bar), silent auction, live auction, Kenyan dance presentation, and a lovely gift bag that includes handcrafted beaded Maasai jewelry to take home. Our Co-founder, Samuel Siriria Leadismo is coming from Kenya to join us!
Our goal is to raise $40,000 to continue providing important programs in 2020. We facilitate workshops that teach sexual & reproductive health education, women's economic empowerment, and life skills that result in educated and self-sufficient communities. We train change agents and youth ambassadors to sustain our education and advocacy efforts. Our focus on the importance of girl’s education has led to an increase in school enrollment and the construction of a new girls’ secondary school in Samburu.
The elephants are running to our event! Please join us too! We look forward to greeting you and thanking you for your support of our organization. We're going to have a grooovy time! Dress is casual.
Our menu includes fare for meat lovers, vegetarians, and gluten-free: passed hors d'oeuvres with chicken, lobster, Kobe beef, lamb, vegetables and more; salad bar with 3 signature salads; manned pasta station with 3 options, including gluten-free, served alongside warm grilled chicken, shrimp, and broccoli rabe and sausage, accompanied by garlic bread; and amazing deluxe dessert buffet with French pastries, truffles, chocolate dipped strawberries, red velvet cake, carrot cake, chocolate gateau, eclairs, cheese cake, mini fruit tarts and more...tea, coffee, soft drinks. About the organizer
Pastoralist Child Foundation (PCF) was founded in 2012 by Sayydah Garrett, a teacher in New Jersey and Samuel Siriria Leadismo, a human rights activist in Samburu, Kenya. The organization is a registered 501C3 tax-exempt public charity based in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. PCF works at the grassroots level in pastoralist (semi-nomadic) communities in Samburu and Maasai Mara, Kenya to prevent child marriage, FGM, and gender-based violence. We teach sexual & reproductive health and rights education and women's economic empowerment. PCF also focuses on the importance of formal education and has a scholarship program for girls to attend secondary boarding schools. PCF trains change agents and youth ambassadors to sustain our education and advocacy efforts.
PCF partners with UNICEF-Kenya, The Girl Generation, Wallace Global Fund, HOW Global, The Samburu Project and many other individuals and nonprofits to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve.
