Event description

Description

Constructing a passive house requires not only high-performance building materials such as high R-value insulation, air barriers and windows, but proper installation techniques to maximize air-tightness, minimize thermal bridging, and regulate the temperature and flow of air through the conditioned space.

Incorrect installation and air sealing of windows can undermine the success of the project.

Please join us for an afternoon demonstration at AEA’s Chicago Hands-On Training Lab, located just west of Midway Airport. We will demonstrate the physical differences between standard windows and passive house windows, and the proper installation techniques for insulating and air sealing the installed window.

Instructor: Steve Marchese is an experienced trainer who specializes in hands-on courses for contractors. He also performs design assurance, testing and verification services for passive house projects.

Who should attend: builders and installers at all experience levels who want to learn techniques to deliver deeper energy savings in new construction or retrofit projects; design professionals performing construction oversight of passive house projects.

Demonstrations will take place at 3 pm, 4 pm and 5 pm. Refreshments will be served.
