Why Party on the Point?
Party on the Point is Boston Children’s Museum’s signature event for emerging philanthropists. Hosted by the Museum’s Young Professionals’ Council, this party will kick off the summer for over 400 young professionals. The proceeds from this fundraiser will help promote summer learning opportunities at the Museum for disadvantaged families and community groups.
Summer learning loss can leave low-income students 2.5–3 years behind their peers by 5th grade, and accounts for 2/3 of the achievement gap in reading by 9th grade. Students who fall behind over the summer are less likely to graduate from high school or go on to college. Boston Children’s Museum admits 160,000 children and families for free or at reduced admission — families that may otherwise not be able to afford to visit. The Museum keeps children engaged in learning experiences over the summer that can improve retention and prepare them for the new school year.
