Event description

Hot/Cold. Rough/Smooth. Push/Pull. Immerse yourself in a world of Capulet and Montague opposites in dog & pony dc’s next sensory-centered translation of Shakespeare, Party On. An activation of your senses of touch, smell, and taste, Party On places you at the heart of the theatrical experience and stretches your concept of what defines a play.

“Exhilarating! Performance like no other.”

“Transformative, unexpected, powerful”

- audience responses to dog & pony dc's other sensory-centered Shakespeare, Seven Ages: your life through the senses

Party On is an intimate show, experienced by an audience of six people but accomodated for each individual. Party On has no auditory or visual elements, and so is neither captured nor interpreted. ASL interpreters will be positioned at the box office. Accessible to people with mobility restrictions.

Party On is part of dog & pony dc's Sense-Able initiative and is linked with dog & pony dc's participation in the DeafBlind Theatre Project. This performance is supported in part by a grant for Shakespeare without Sight or Sound from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, an agency supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.

Email tickets@dogandponydc.com if you have any questions or concerns regarding this performance.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Closest metro stop is NoMA/Gallaudet University on the red line. Street parking is available around Gallaudet. Enter campus on foot at Florida Ave and 8th Street NE. Make an immediate right turn and Elstad Auditorum is the first building on your right. There will be signs.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing that you can walk around, stand, and sit in. There is movement. Nothing will get you dirty. We don't recommend stillettos.

If my mobility is restricted, can I still attend the show?

Yup! The venue is completely accessible and we can adjust the show to you. The core experience will remain.

I have food allergies, what should I do?

You can let us know in advance or when you arrive. We can adjust the show to you.

Can you tell me what I should expect?

The unexpected? To take a leap of faith? To do something different. Read Act 1 Scene 5 of Romeo & Juliet in advance if you want to know what our source text was. You can also watch this behind the scenes video from our first trial run of a Shakespeare without Sight or Sound show in fall 2016.

Anything else?

We will be documenting performances via video. By attending this experience, you acknowledge that your likeness may be captured in photographs and/or video and give permission for dog & pony dc to use these materials for non-commercial purposes, including marketing, promotion, publication, archival, and non-commercial broadcasts or webcasts.
