The Homeland Security & Defense Business Council and the American Red Cross in the National Capital Region once again are partnering to increase the preparedness and readiness of the region’s business community. The goal of Partners in Preparedness is to ensure companies have the information and resources needed to prepare and protect against emergencies that can cause significant disruption and destruction. Partnering with key government and industry groups, the event will elevate preparedness issues to the highest echelons of public, private and nonprofit sectors.

Participants will attend an exciting session titled, “Preparing for, responding to and recovering from emergencies”.   A number of key resources, programs and research designed to help companies and individuals increase their preparedness will be featured, including the American Red Cross Ready When the Time Comes™ corporate volunteer program.  We will also have a robust discussion of the use of social media as a tool in emergencies.

National Conversation on the State of Homeland Security:  Preparedness

In advance of the 10th anniversary of 9/11, the Homeland Security & Defense Business Council will launch its National Conversations on the State of Homeland Security series at PIP.  This first National Conversation will focus on our nation’s State of Preparedness this past decade; the cooperation of government, industry and NGOs, and begin the conversation of how we all can together achieve our next level of preparedness in the next decade.  What are our strategic goals?  How will government, industry and non-governmental organizations coordinate and partner to successfully leverage our resources?  How can the nation best achieve resiliency for/in all communities?
