Using the 5 Protective Factors to enhance
Strengthening Families is a research-informed approach in increasing family strengths, enhancing child development, and reducing the likelihood of child abuse and neglect. It is based on engaging families, programs and communities in building five protective factors:
- Parental resilience
- Social connections
- Knowledge of parenting and child develoment
- Concrete support in times of need
- Social and emotional competences of children
Early learning providers will learn how to partner with families to increase their understanding of the impact of protective factors.

Raising Quality Together (RQT): Sacramento County's QRIS
Raising Quality Together: Sacramento County’s Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) is a recognition and improvement system designed to engage early learning centers and family child care homes in a continuous quality improvement journey within the QRIS matrix. Raising Quality Together (RQT) and its partners support early learning programs’ growth with research-based professional development, assessment, mentoring, and resources.
