Working with AG Bell National and its Cradle to Career partners Cochlear and GN ReSound, AG Bell's Michigan chapter will provide you with the opportunity to learn more about how to support children who are deaf and hard of hearing and to help them achieve their goals.
This educational and family friendly event will include a featured presentation by Sound Support University of Michigan: “From Hear to Hear - Cochlear: Nucleus Technology on the Classroom,” an exhibitor area, hands-on learning opportunities, a children's play area, free lunch for attendees, and networking and professional development opportunities.
Following the course listed above, attendees will be able to:
- Describe the need to intervene early in order to help children who are deaf or hard of hearing reach their full potential
- Briefly describe how a cochlear implant works
- Describe the Sound Support outreach grant
- List two ways that show how Sound Support partners with professionals and families in Michigan
- List the candidacy criteria for Nucleus cochlear implants and list the features and benefits of Nucleus technology for school age children
- Select and fit remote microphone technology, including the Cochlear Mini Microphone 2+, to Nucleus cochlear implant recipients
