Event description
Workshop for city employees to develop creative solutions to improve services for Detroit residents

About this Event

City employees from all departments are invited to join Design Core and the City of Helsinki for a workshop aimed at developing creative solutions to improve the experience residents have interacting with their city. Created by the City of Helsinki as part of its effort to increase participation in government, the board game invites city leaders, small teams of managers, and front-line staff to play together. As they do so, they learn about dozens of methods for involving citizens in their work, from public meetings to focus groups to participatory budgeting.

As fellow members of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, Detroit is honored to welcome city officials from Helsinki during Detroit Month of Design to share their tool and facilitate a free and fun-filled session for City of Detroit employees.

The event will be hosted within the Detroit Design 139 exhibition organized by Bedrock Detroit, the City of Detroit Department of Planning and Development, and Design Core. Lunch and refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to all city employees but space is limited.
