Event description

Description

This session is for College of Charleston faculty only.

This is Part 2 in a two-part series on flipping your classroom. However, participants need not attend both sessions to benefit.

Flipping your classroom involves moving some or all of your in-class lectures to outside the class, typically through video-recorded lectures students watch at home. This frees up in-class time for more interaction between students and instructor, and students with one another. Class time is completely devoted to active learning and the application of course material, including case studies, team work, experiments, discussions, debates, working difficult problems, and presentations.

In this discussion-based session, we will focus specifically on how to structure your in-class time now that lecture is no longer part of it. We will share tips, tools, and best practices for ensuring in-class activities and assessments are purposeful, application-oriented, clearly structured, and effectively paced.

By the end of this session, participants will:

  • Understand the purpose and benefits of flipping your classroom.

  • Generate ideas for in-class activities that are authentic and tied to learning outcomes.

  • Learn how to effectively structure and manage class time.

This session is for ALL LEVELS
