Event description
Parking and Entry Reservation for Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary

About this Event

In an effort to keep our visitors and staff safe by allowing for plenty of social and physical distancing, we are limiting visitation to Ipswich River. All visitors need to make a reservation (per vehicle) for a specific 30 minute window arrival time. There will be no tickets available on site.

The sanctuary is typically open Tuesday-Sunday. We are closed on Mondays.(with exception of holiday Mondays)

Our trails, parking lot and Vistitors Center will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

*Self-guided school/educational groups or larger multi-passenger vehicles must reserve parking one week in advance by contacting our office. Please call, 978-887-9264 or email, ipswichriver@massaudubon.org

Please note: For everyone’s safety, there is no access to buildings including Visitors Center, restrooms or water fountains.

*No dogs/pets are permitted on the property. No biking on trails.

Reservations

Please select your arrival time. Note: We cannot accommodate any date changes, cancellations, or refunds once an order has been placed.

Reservations are $10 per car for nonmembers; free per car for Mass Audubon members, EBT Cardholders, ConnectorCare Card to Culture Cardholders, and Active Duty US Military Families. Please show your reservation confirmation (and corresponding card, if applicable) upon arrival.

Not a member? Join today to take advantage of our new member special. You can show your email confirmation upon arrival.

Upon Arrival

You will need to show your reservation confirmation (either printed or on a mobile device) through your car window.

Visitors over the age of 5 are required to wear a mask or cloth face covering over their mouth and nose while at the Sanctuary. Masks or face coverings are strongly encouraged for children between the ages of 2 and 5. If a visitor refuses to wear a mask or cloth face covering for non-medical reasons, we reserve the right under State guidelines to decline entry to that individual.

Please follow our Trail Guidelines including:

  • Keep at least 6 feet apart from staff and other visitor
  • Do not gather in groups of people from outside of your household.
  • Avoid high-touch surfaces such as benches, picnic tables, and Nature Play Areas.

Take a photo of the trail map or download one from massaudubon.org/trails.

FAQs

Why do we have to reserve parking in advance?

To ensure the safety of our members, guests, and staff, we are limiting the number of people onsite at any given time. In addition, online and advance parking reservations enable you to make contactless payment.

Will there be any restrooms or water fountains?

For everyone’s safety, all buildings and restrooms are currently closed. That also means there are no water fountains available. Please plan ahead.

How far in advance can I reserve parking?

For the moment, we are only offering Parking & Entry reservations 1-2 days in advance. We plan to have more flexibility to book further in advance in the future. Check our website frequently for updates.  Self-guided school/educational groups must reserve parking one week in advance through our office.

Can I get reserve parking when I arrive at the sanctuary?

No. All reservations must be booked online in advance of your visit.

How long can I stay once I am there?

While you must arrive during your reserved time slot, you can stay for as long as you like. Be aware that there are no facilities on site (meaning no restrooms or water fountains).

What if I need to cancel?

Unfortunately, the reservations are nonrefundable and we cannot accommodate any date changes at the moment.

What if I just joined Mass Audubon online and don’t have a member card?

Thank you so much for your membership support! Your email confirmation of your membership will serve as your temporary membership card. Please show that email along with your reservation confirmation when you arrive.

If you have any further questions, please contact us at www.ipswichriver@massaudubon.org.
