Description

Come join us and feed your creative spirit! Our Park Place Create series will include a handful of local artists who have perfected their trade and love to share their craft with others. Each class will include light refreshments to enjoy while learning from our guest artists.

In this session of our art series, we will learn how to make handmade jewelry. Darcy Harville of DHarville Studio will be leading us; teaching the basic of jewelry making and showing us how to make a pair of beautiful earrings.

Darcy Harville is an artist originally from Warsaw, Indiana. She moved to Anderson, Indiana to attend Anderson University, where she received a B.A in Fine Arts as a Studio Major. At AU, she studied ceramics, sculpture, glass blowing, painting, and then did a full year of advanced work with 3D materials and painting. Taking these courses allowed her to experience many diverse types of mediums, which then helped her be able to use them in any of her artwork, especially her pottery and jewelry. Throughout school, she created various types of Jewelry pieces using different mediums such as, nature related items (rocks, twigs, variety of seed shells, citrus peels, clay, etc) as well as the more common materials such as glass beads and metals. Darcy has created some of her favorite pieces in her Glass course. Making her own glass beads; she made a Native American inspired necklace for a final project. Using nature and historical culture as her inspiration, her art work is earthy and organic. Exploring what nature can provide, gives her unique pieces of art not seen anywhere else, which can also be worn.

Currently Darcy is working on many new forms of earrings and necklaces, using glass beads and natural gemstones. The beginning of this year she officially opened a small business selling her jewelry online. This has given her the opportunity to create art but also be a stay at home mom. Aside from jewelry, she also does commissioned paintings and sculptures.
