Event description

Description

Each year the Park Forest Library Friends pick an engaging speaker for our annual meeting. This year we have arranged for Dr. Rizwan Bikhari, a cardiovascular surgeon, to speak with us about how our diets impact our health. Dr. Riz addresses the research that shows how our food choices greatly contribute to the top ten leading causes of death. His ultimate goal is to help empower individuals to make better food choices. Research has shown that plant-based foods have the power to stop, reverse, and prevent these leading causes of death. This is because living foods are full of vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, fiber and antioxidants that are not found in animal-based food and highly processed foods. Living foods help reduce inflammation, balance blood sugar levels, reduce plaque and help support the body's immune system. As a vascular surgeon, Dr. Riz describes the main condition that he treats, atherosclerosis, which is developed primarily as a result of poor food choices and smoking.

Food will be provided by Nature's Plate!
