Paris Software Carpentry Boot Camp
Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 9:00 AM - Sunday, April 21, 2013 at 4:30 PM (CEST)
This boot camp is an example-driven two-day workshop on basic computing skills. Short tutorials alternate with hands-on practical exercises, and participants are encouraged both to help one another, and to try applying what they have learned to their own research problems during and between sessions. Participants should bring their own laptops to work on.
See http://software-carpentry.org/boot-camps/ for more info.
We will cover the following topics, with a half-day spent on each topic:
- intro to Python
- collaborative code editing / version control (Git / Github)
- NumPy / packaging my first Python project
- SciPy / matplotlib / Cython
- testing (possibly -- to be decided)
Entrance will be through the back of the building, at 49, rue Vergniaud.
When & Where
Software Carpentry teaches researchers in science, engineering, and medicine the skills and tools they need to use and build software more productively. We have over a hundred volunteer instructors in a dozen countries and all of our lesson materials are freely available under a Creative Commons license.
