Description
Parents/family concerned about a young person's alcohol or other drug use.
Learning objectives:
At the completion of this event, to assist concerned parents and/or family members, participants will be able to:

Discuss the prevalence of alcohol and other drug use by young people with parents and/or family members.

Discuss reasons why young people might use alcohol or other drugs with parents and/or family members.

Explain the characteristics of problematic alcohol and other drug use to parents and/or family members.

Assist parents and/or family members to raise the issue of alcohol or other drug use with children.
-
Support parents to understand what they can and can’t do to help their child who may be experiencing alcohol or other drug-use problems.

Identify State and local alcohol and other drug support services and resources available to parents and/or other family members.
