Description

Parent’s Practical Guide to Resilience for Children and Young People with Autism.

Welcome to a shared evening where we all have something in common - Autism.

Join Dr Emma Goodall, author, blogger, researcher and public speaker on various aspects of autism, education and interception and Allison Gaskin, a local mother of three children on the autism spectrum, autism advocate, counsellor and support coordinator.

On the back of the launch of her latest book, The Parents’ Practical Guide to Resilience for Children aged 2-10 on the Autism Spectrum, Dr Emma Goodall will be talking about practical ways parents can help develop resilience in autistic children and young people. Emma’s captivating talks are drawn from her experiences as a proud Aspie woman, her work as the senior autism advisor and her studies where her PhD researched factors involved in teaching students on the autistic spectrum. Realizing how different autistic and non autistic thinking is, Emma is passionate about enabling families and educators to understand these differences and work with autistic spectrum children and adults in a positive way.

Following Emma’s presentation, join Allison from Brite Steps for a Q&A session where questions are open to all things autism; including how to connect with support networks, looking after you as your child’s carer, and how to register, manage and get the most out of your NDIS funding. If you have a burning question you would like answered on the night, you are encouraged to email Sophie at SThornton@campbelltown.sa.gov.au
