Event description
Parenting skills class for everyday challenges to tantrums and behavior problems. This seven week course focuses on school-aged children.

About this Event

A seven-week parenting class led by a licensed youth therapist. This class will focus on:

  • better understanding children’s developmental needs
  • managing everyday behaviors
  • calming tantrums and emotional outbursts
  • nurturing curious and resilient children

Class meets weekly in person on Wednesdays from 6pm to 7:30pm on the following dates:

March 6, 13, 20, 27

April 3, 10, 17

Onsite childcare available at Link to Learn Behavior Therapy for a reduced rate for class attendees.

Drama Free Parenting classes will be guided by current neuroscience research and parenting expertise from Dr. Dan Seigel through his easy-to-understand text: No Drama Discipline. Additionally, other parenting experts' literature and the professional, clinical experience of the instructor* will inform discussions, homework assignments and individual challenges.

Class size will be kept small to address scenarios and challenges brought by parents and caregivers in class.

Cost: $199** per person OR $349 per couple/parenting duo, includes:

  • book
  • workbook
  • seven class meetings
  • homework assignments
  • certificate of completion (10.5 hours total)
  • opportunity to consult with youth therapist instructor.

*Instructor: Melinda S. Malher-Moran is a Board-Certified Dance/Movement Therapist and Licensed Mental Health Counselor living in Indianapolis, Indiana. She works as a youth therapist, consultant, educator and writer. She presents her work often at local universities and conferences across the country. Melinda writes professionally for the American Dance Therapy Association and GoodTherapy.com.

Melinda is the director of Creative Counseling for Youth and Families where she provides dance/movement therapy, play therapy and other expressive arts techniques to support youth through a variety of life challenges and diagnoses. She enjoys supporting parents in identifying their strengths and values to support parenting that is the best fit for their home.
