Event description

Description

Wednesdays, 09/18, 10/16, 11/20, 12/18, 5:30-7:30pm, Auditorium: Presented by the Early Learning Communities through Oakland Family Services.

09/18, Talking is Teaching: Talking is Teaching is a national campaign that promotes public awareness to parents, childcare providers, and community leaders of the importance of talking, reading, and singing to children from birth to age 8. This training will provide information on language and literacy development and give strategies on supporting children in the earliest stages of development, which helps to develop healthy brains and lifelong literacy skills.
10/16, Understanding Preschool Development: Participants will learn facts about brain development in preschool age children, how to recognize the uniqueness in the way children think and view the world around them, and strategies to support preschool children's thinking.
11/20, Schedules and Routines: A daily routine determines how we will use space within our program and what types of interactions children will experience during each part of the day. This predictable daily sequence of events gives children a sense of control and a feeling of confidence.
12/18, Caregiver Interactions: Participants will learn techniques to enhance caregiver-child interactions.

Must Pre-register at www.miregistry.org . No walk-ins are allowed. You can find in the youth room a flier with instructions on how to register for the class.
