Date and time
PARASITE - A Negotiation of the Public’s Space. A Discussion with Jordan Seiler, Karen Wong, Nick Colvin, and Aymann Ismael at Postmasters.
About this event
Our Public Space - what is at stake, and who are the stakeholders?
As advertising media gets further embedded into the city's grid, artists and art organizations create alternatives by introducing cultural programming throughout New York City using various engagement strategies. Parasite is a panel discussion exploring the mechanics of cultural programming in public spaces amidst divergent interests fighting for our collective attention. The debate will present three unique approaches to cultural programming in our streets ranging in intent, execution, and purpose.
The event is in conjunction with Jordan Seiler's solo exhibition at Auxiliary Projects in Greenpoint, which runs until October 31st. The panel discussion is part of the Warm-Ups, a series of art happenings curated by The Downtown Biennial.
