Description
This workshop typically lasts for two hours.
Parametric Design: Rhino and Grasshopper is an entry level workshop open to anyone interested in learning the basics of parametric design software using Rhino and Grasshopper. Participants will be introduced to visual programming using the Grasshopper environment, common components, user interface elements, and baking geometry for use in Rhino.
This workshop will NOT cover machine operation of any kind. To learn how to operate equipment such as the laser cutter, 3D printers, CNC router or mill, you must sign up for one of the workshops that covers these operations.
What to expect:
This workshop is for beginners to Rhino and the Grasshopper plugin. It assumes no prior knowledge of the Grasshopper environment and will likely be very basic if you already have significant working experience with the tool. Participants can expect a hands on and project based learning approach.
Expected outcomes:
- Feel comfortable working in the Rhino and Grasshopper environment
- Be able to create and manipulate points, curves, surfaces, and solids from within Grasshopper
- Understand the basics of designing parametric systems using components
- Understand and be capable of baking out geometry for use in Rhino or another CAD package
Pre-requisites:
Experience with Rhino and/or other CAD packages such as Solidworks, Inventor, or Fusion 360 useful but not required.
Participants are welcome but not required to bring a laptop running at least Windows 10 or Mac OS X and a preinstalled copy of Rhino (Free, 90 day trial available*).
