Paracosm's A Christmas Carol

Paracosm’s A Christmas Carol, written and choreographed by Alyssa Johnson, premieres December 16th, marking the inaugural performance of what will become a yearly Austin tradition.

A movement adaptation of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, this one-night soirée features contemporary dance theater, drag, live violin, roller skating, and more.

Tara Cotta - Austin's own renowned drag queen - will lead the way as dancers twist the original narrative through contorted movement and their own brand of queer, holiday madness.

The driving score, composed by Dario Marianelli, will be remixed by Behnam Arzaghi, who will also perform live accompaniment on the violin. Costume designer Dustyn Shehane will be adding to the elegance of the evening with extravagant ballgowns and chaotic creations, setting the stage for a fully over-the-top, grand winter ballroom feel.

Indeed, it is time. Don your finest attire and prepare to be transported back a century or two, entering the dark, winter Paracosm of Ebenezer Scrooge.

NOTE: Our performance venue has extremely limited parking – cars must be reserved in addition to purchasing tickets. When buying tickets, select 1 car-ticket for a car reservation, and no-car-tickets for any passengers in that specific car.
