Event description

Description

Come learn how you can be a part of the solution in our community. Paper Tigers will show us what is possible.

About the Documentary

Paper Tigers is an intimate look into the lives of selected students at Lincoln High School, an alternative school in Walla Walla, WA that specializes in educating traumatized youth. The film intimately examines the inspiring promise of Trauma Informed Communities – a movement that is showing great promise in healing youth struggling with the dark legacy of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES).

Trauma Informed Care

Through this film, we learn how Trauma Informed responses and programming can help to turn around the trajectory for children. In particular, Lincoln High School was able to significantly decrease their suspension rates, in part by viewing aberrant behavior in children as a symptom rather a moral failing.

Individuals Making a Difference

There are doctors, researchers, teachers, nurses, social workers, law enforcement officers, parents and caregivers that are turning the tide against the cycle of trauma and abuse.
