In recognition of the Lancet series launch on early childhood development (ECD), the era of Sustainable Development Goals, and reaching every child, PATH invites you to a brownbag lunch on Friday December 2, at 12pm EST (noon) to discuss approaches to delivering ECD services. The panel discussion will focus on services for the youngest children (0-3 years) and their caregivers, who are often left out of “traditional” ECD programs.
The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF), ChildFund International, and PATH will be presenting their approaches to delivering ECD interventions to children in the early years. Presentations will be followed by a group discussion, offering participants a chance to share experience with ECD service delivery for the youngest children, current gaps in provision of such services, and reflections on how best to move forward with the recommendations of the Lancet ECD series.
Please join us in the 2nd Floor Conference Room at 455 Massachusetts Avenue, NW in Washington, DC at 12:00pm (noon) EST. Lunch will be provided.
Cynthia Mariel, Senior Country Officer/Tanzania with EGPAF, presenting the Malezi Project in Tanzania, which is integrating ECD counseling into health facility- and community-based maternal, neonatal, and child health and HIV services.
Melissa Kelly, Acting Director, Child & Youth Development and Protection with ChildFund International, providing an overview of ChildFund’s global work in utilizing innovative community-based approaches to provide ECD services to the youngest children.
Debjeet Sen, Regional Specialist, ECD & Nutrition with PATH, sharing PATH’s work in integrating ECD counseling and screening into facility- and community-based health services in Kenya, Mozambique, and South Africa, while advocating for health service delivery policies, guidelines, and tools that integrate ECD.
