Description

5:30 p.m. Doors open

6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Panel Discussion

7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sake Tasting

James Beard award-winning food reporter Steve Dolinsky (perhaps best known as ABC 7’s Hungry Hound) says that very few cultures are as focused on food and service as is Japan. “I’ve never seen people care so much about how food is sourced, prepared, and served.”

Join Steve as he examines Japanese cuisine both in Japan and the U.S. with a prestigious panel of food specialists, including Tokyo’s master of traditional cooking Naoyuki Yanagihara, Chicago’s own Michelin Bib Gourmand-winning chef Takashi Yagihashi of Slurping Turtle, Suntory Whiskey Ambassador Gardner Dunn, Owner of Kamehachi Sharon Perazzoli, and Chicago Tribune Food & Dining reporter Louisa Chu.

The panel discussion will be followed by a tasting of sake from breweries in Japan. The event is FREE. All attendees must be 21 or older. All that is required is registration and a photo ID for tasting.

This event is co-sponsored by the Consulate-General of Japan in Chicago, the Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Chicago Office, and Japan Airlines and supported by Travel Massive.

Validation is available for the Olympia Center Building Parking Garage, the same building where the Japan Information Center is located.
