Event description

Description

Join Pan Asian Lawyers of San Diego for a screening of “And Then They Came For Us.” This documentary - winner of the ABA 2018 Silver Gavel Award - recounts the mass evacuation and internment of Japanese Americans in the western United States. “It was a failure of American democracy, and yet because most Americans are not aware of that dark chapter of American history, it’s about to be repeated.” - George Takei, Actor and Activist.

After the screening, there will be a special panel discussion featuring Dale Minami (counsel for Fred Korematsu in the Korematsu case), Karen Korematsu (founder of the Fred T. Korematsu Institute), Bita Ashtari (President of the Iranian-American Bar Association) with moderator Judge Selena Epley of the San Diego Superior Court.

This event provides 1.0 Elimination of Bias CLE credit. Tickets INCLUDE parking, film and a catered reception.
