Established in 2009, Vertical Shadows quickly became one of Melbourne's most respected independant dance companies performing in many of Melbourne's landmark theatres, selling out seasons and gaining five star reviews. With a unique, undefinable movement, the company focuses on bridging the gap between the seasoned and the unorthodox, giving it a large following from non-conventional dance audiences.

Vertical Shadows creates cinematic dance theatre that is unapologetically musically driven, a movement that is conceptualized, developed and choreographed from the soundtrack itself. Stephen Agisilaou’s choreography, contains a remarkable balance of restraint and ease without producing clichéd elements of minimal contemporary dance movement.
