Calling All Parents!
Is your child an early reader? Is he showing advanced abilities- beyond same age peers- in music, art, math or other areas? Do strangers keep asking in disbelief, 'How old is she!?' Is she intensely curious or sensitive? Is he bored or acting out in the general ed classroom? A bit too good at negotiating? And are you looking for resources and ways you can support your child's advanced abilities?
If so, join us for the P.A.L. Workshop Series and discover how we can help each other with the typical issues of accelerated learners.
This 2012-2013 Season, P.A.L. is excited to host the NYC Gifted and Talented Conference, a one-day Spring symposium for parents, caregivers and teachers. Stay tuned as we announce the line-up of experts in gifted education, local specialists, G&T school directors and a sampling of the best programs for G&T kids.
We start the season with our signature session,The NYC Gifted & Talented Process: An Insiders Guide to Admissions & Testing for Public & Private School. Our roundtable discussion, What's Happening to Gifted & Talented Education in NYC? in partnership with New York Family Magazine, will provide the big picture of NYC's G&T programs. After numerous requests, we're finally tackling middle school with a panel on Critical Issues for The NYC Middle Schooler. For parents who are the first respondents when their child needs homework help, we're launching our Homework Helper: Mini Session on Math with specialists who will show you effective strategies, games, apps and more that you can use with your child to make math more meaningful. And Summer Slide Prevention: Enriching Experiences and Engaging Summertime Activities to Prevent Summer Learning Loss, along with our P.A.L. G&T Speedsourcing event, are also back in time for summer.
Please note, our locations vary this season to better accommodate all families in NYC, so be sure to confirm details on your ticket.
