"A colourful feast of entrancing sound and melody" - Evening Herald

"As a musician with Ensemble Eriu, RiZa and Feather, Groenland is no stranger to global sounds and new ways of using them. The lead track on his new Nativism EP (“a reference to the current global struggle for identity and ownership”), is a beautiful guitar piece that has an African, jazz, blues and folk in its DNA." - Nialler 9

Paj - ‘blue-eyed-soul boi’ singer Paddy Groenland and his band of first-call musicians are past & present members of Irish trailblazers Hozier, Loah, Ensemble Eriu, Manden Express, Fehdah, Nava, & Zaska.
Paj's songs emerge from soul, jazz & world music, divulging memories of living in USA, Brazil & West Africa... Imagine Jeff Buckley, Thundercat & Joni Mitchell playing basketball in Prince's house...

Paj is best known for lending his guitar-work and backing vocals to a list of eclectic crossover projects like traditional Irish award winners Ensemble Ériu, Congolese guitarist Niwel Tsumbu's RiZa, West-African group Manden Express, Dave Flynn's Clare Memory Orchestra, groups Loah, Feather and Danny G & the Maj7ths. He released a solo guitar EP - Nativism - in August 2016.

Paddy is known abroad as a multitalented musician that has performed with groups such as Joint Ventures (HUN), Swiss vocalist Sylvie Bourban and Portuguese Universal artist Luisa Sobral. In Dublin he has played support to Thundercat, Hiatus Kaiyote, Taylor McFerrin, M People and Billy Ocean, while his own folk/jazz group, Leafzang, released their eponymous album in 2011.

Previously a Fulbright student at the Berklee College of Music, Boston, he recently completed a Masters degree in Global Music - via trips to Brazil & Mali - at the Sibelius Academy, Helsinki and has also trained in digital music composition for TV & film in Dublin. Paddy was the first student to major in jazz performance at NUI Maynooth.

He is part of a collective of Irish musicians that ran 12 Rutland Space - a space for creative projects to rehearse and perform in Dublin's city centre - and in 2011 he ran a 5-day jazz festival - 'Jazz Is...'.
