Painting The Native Landscape, Wed., May 24, 11:30 AM to 4 PM

Have you ever wanted to learn how to paint that special meadow with colorful wildflowers? Come and join a professional oil painter at scenic Flying J Ranch Park and she will show you techniques to do this. This class is for all levels and beginners are welcome. The founder of the Native Plant Master Program will lead a short plant walk at the beginning of class so you can learn fun facts about some of the plants that you will paint.
Guest Speaker: Brenda Ellis is a professional oil painter. Barbara Fahey is the founder of the Native Plant Master Program.
When and Where to meet: Please arrive at 11:15 AM in the main parking lot. Plant walk begins at 11:30 AM sharp. Painting begins at 12:00 noon.
Directions: Travel south from Evergreen on County Highway 73 for 6.8 miles to the main trailhead entry road. From US Highway 285 at Aspen Park, take Barkley Road to County Highway 73. Turn north and travel to the main trailhead entrance.
What to wear: Layered clothing for changing and/or severe weather conditions, sturdy footwear, hat, etc. Please come prepared for hot, cold, windy, rainy or snowy days.
What to bring: Bring one 8 x 10 in. or 11 x 14 in. canvas, sketchbook and pencil (or charcoal). Craft-quality oil paints and brushes will be available for general use. However, If you want higher quality materials, bring your own paintbrushes and oil paints with basic colors - cerulean blue, Prussian blue, sap green, raw umber, alizarin crimson, cadmium lemon yellow, cadmium orange, yellow ochre, black and titanium white. Please bring an easel if you have one, a water bottle, smock to protect clothes, paper towels and trash bag, and any other art supplies you would like to use. Please also bring water, snacks, sack lunch, daypack to carry your supplies, sun and wind protection.
Native Plant Master: This class does not count towards Colorado Flora Certificate or certification as a Native Plant Master. To learn more, click here.
Carpooling: Carpooling is strongly encouraged. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to carpool and your contact information will be shared with others interested in carpooling. Any liability arising from any arrangements is the participants' sole responsibility.
Inclement Weather/Illness: In the rare circumstance that a session must be cancelled, you will be notified by phone and/or email message as soon as possible by the trainer. In case of cancellation, the make up session will be on June 7.
