For beginners and returning students! Abstract painting involves transcending ordinary perceptions to depict how a scene makes you feel rather than the exact scene itself. If you would like to sharpen your skills or just experiment with new tools and painting methods, this class is for you! Bring to class reference photos, brushes, paints of your choice, a wide palette knife, and canvas panels (11x14 and larger).

Confirmation: After registering, you will receive an e-mail containing all course details, including the classroom location and any special instructions.

Parking: Ample parking is available outside the Elberson Fine Arts Center, and limited parking is available around Salem Square and the Old Salem Visitor’s Center. Please observe posted parking regulations. Call Public Safety for assistance at (336) 917-5555.

Campus Map: A campus map is posted online at www.salem.edu, under the "Get In Touch" menu.

Inclement Weather: If the institution cancels or delays classes because of inclement weather, local television stations will be asked to make the announcement. In particular, monitor WXII and FOX-WGHP. Cancellations and delays will also be posted at www.salem.edu and on the switchboard voicemail service at (336) 721-2600.

Withdrawals and Refunds: Please note that anyone who withdraws from a course will receive a full refund (minus a $30.00 processing fee, per course) if the Courses for Community office is notified in writing at least three business days prior to the start of the course. No refund is given after that time unless the college must cancel the course, in which case a full refund is issued.

Continuing Education Units: CEUs are awarded, based on participation in courses, at one unit per ten hours of attendance. CEUs must be requested when registering. Not all courses carry CEUs. Please notify the Courses for Community office if you need verification documents.

Bookstore: If a book is required for the course, it will be listed in your registration confirmation. You may find it at your favorite bookstore. Order early to make certain you have it for the first class.
