Paint with Fiber - Felting and Dying Workshop
Sat, May 27, 2017, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM EDT
Paint with fiber
Do you ever find something at a thrift shop or in your closet that would be more exciting if you could just change something about it? How about one of a kind quilt squares or flowers.
Participants will learn how to work with needle felting tools and an array of fiber to create. We will be using fabric scraps, thrift store finds, and silk scarves to transform an ordinary item into something fun and new.
The class will be a 3 hour workshop which includes working with silk and other found objects. Supplies are included. Cost $35 per person. Limit 4 per class.
More about Lisa Shell of Kai Mohair
I was born in Williamsburg, VA. where I was inspired by the reenactment activities there as a child.
While living in California, in 1982, I took college level courses in the arts of dyeing, spinning, and weaving revisiting my childhood inspirations.
In 1987, while living in San Angelo, TX, I began the development of a herd of naturally colored angora goats.
I made my living for many years, shearing, spinning, dyeing, and weaving mohair harvested from my flock. I attended trade shows such as the Houston International Quilt Show, The Armadillo Christmas Bazaar in Austin, TX. and the Taos Wool Show in NM. to name a few.
My Husband and I recently moved to The Rural Retreat area from near Austin, TX., where we continue to raise a herd of angora goats.
