Sat, April 29, 2017, 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM EDT
Paint on Silk!
Have you ever admired a hand painted scarf and wished you could create one of your own?
Participants will be working with acid dyes to paint on silk scarves. Each student will be able to work with two scarves and we will finish with a dye bath so that you can take your work home with you. You will learn about dyes, the dyeing process and fabric application.
Cost is $45, which includes materials. This is a 4 hour class. Students will want to wear old clothes or an apron.
Class is limited to 5 students.
More about Lisa Shell of Kai Mohair
I was born in Williamsburg, VA. where I was inspired by the reenactment activities there as a child.
While living in California, in 1982, I took college level courses in the arts of dyeing, spinning, and weaving revisiting my childhood inspirations.
In 1987, while living in San Angelo, TX, I began the development of a herd of naturally colored angora goats.
I made my living for many years, shearing, spinning, dyeing, and weaving mohair harvested from my flock. I attended trade shows such as the Houston International Quilt Show, The Armadillo Christmas Bazaar in Austin, TX. and the Taos Wool Show in NM. to name a few.
My Husband and I recently moved to The Rural Retreat area from near Austin, TX., where we continue to raise a herd of angora goats.
